OUR FOUNDATION

About the Foundation

Our Team

Our amazing team of staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors is committed to helping donors create a lasting impact in the community of Jennings County.

Our History

From a humble start of $67 caringly placed in a coffee can by a small group in 1994, the Jennings County Community Foundation began its philanthropic efforts.

Our Mission

The JCCF strives to improve the quality of life for Jennings County residents in perpetuity, to provide responsible stewardship, and to promote leadership in addressing community issues.

In 1994, a small group decided to make a difference for good in Jennings County. From a humble start of $67 caringly placed in a coffee can, the Jennings County Community Foundation began its philanthropic efforts. As a result of that early act of faith to making a difference, the JCCF has time and time again responded to addressing various local needs and strengthening our community.

The Jennings County Community Foundation is a countywide not-for-profit organization created to meet the needs of individual donors and Jennings County human service organizations. We offer a single philanthropic organization for donors of various interests and purposes.

The JCCF receives and manages philanthropic gifts in accordance with donor directives to ensure that the donor's charitable interests are carried out. We do this by the management of permanent endowments that meet the needs of the citizens of Jennings County through grant-making and building a legacy of permanent community capital.

Our mission is to develop endowments that will greatly improve the quality of life for Jennings County residents in perpetuity, to provide responsible stewardship of those gifts, to promote leadership in addressing community issues, and to make grants in the fields of community service, social service, education, health, environment, and the arts. The JCCF holds over 200 funds in trust, our current assets totaling more than $6 million dollars.

What is a Community Foundation?

A community foundation is a tax-exempt, non-profit, publicly supported philanthropic institution with a long-term goal of building permanent, named funds. These funds are established by many donors for the broad-based charitable benefit of the residents of Jennings County. A community foundation is founded and operated as a public benefit and as an independent governing body broadly representative of the Jennings County community.
